SCARBOROUGH — The New Year is starting off strong on the recruiting trail for the Centennial Colts.

Head Coach Rich Hirst and the Colts Women’s Soccer Program have added their second recruit for the 2023 season, just three days into the new calendar year. The Colts announced on their social media channels that Odessa Peyton has committed to the program for the 2023 season.

Peyton joins Pickering, Ontario native Kyry Rose in the 2023 recruiting class for the Colts. Rose committed to the program back on December 20th, 2022.

“I chose Centennial College because it offers many programs, has good sports teams, and has a nice campus,” said Peyton in the graphic posted by the Colts. “It also looks like a healthy environment to study.”

Peyton, a versatile RB/F from Barrie, joins the Colts after playing for Barrie FC. She will be studying Business Marketing while enrolled at Centennial College.

When asked about the team’s latest recruit, Hirst was quick to point out Peyton’s athleticism and versatility.

“Odessa is a powerful and athletic player with the character traits we are seeking as we continue to solidify our program’s identity,” said Hirst. “She has the attributes and abilities to play many different roles and we are excited that Odessa has chosen Centennial for her next step in education and athletics.”

The Colts finished 5th in the OCAA East Division with a 5-3-2 record during the regular season. They allowed just eight goals against during the regular season, finishing the year as one of just six teams in the OCAA to allow nine or fewer goals.

Centennial picked up a 3-1 win over the Sheridan Bruins on the road in their OCAA Crossover game on October 22nd to advance to the OCAA Championships. Their season came to a close at the hands of the Seneca Sting in the OCAA Quarterfinals, 4-0.
