KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Heat men’s volleyball team announced today that Lucas Woelders will join the program for the 2022-23 season.
Woelders, a 6-5 outside hitter from Langley, B.C., joins the Heat from Langley Christian School and the Fraser Valley Volleyball Club, and will be a welcomed presence for Heat head coach Brad Hudson.
“Lucas is a very exciting young wing with tremendous potential and character. His commitment to a pursuit of personal excellence completely aligns with our program’s ambitions and we look forward to sharing his journey.”
Woelders, a member of 17U and 18U Team BC, has been recognized for his stand-out junior play with all-star selections at the Eastern Fraser Valley Championships, BC Club Provincial Championship, and BC Junior Boys Provincial Championship, the later on two occasions.
The captain of his school’s senior team, Woelders is excited to join UBCO next year.

Woelders is the second recruit the Heat have announced for the 2022-23 season, joining middle Ashton South. UBCO currently own a 4-2 record in Canada West play this season and are off to one of their best starts since joining U SPORTS.
